Yes, I Collect Pokemon Cards, But Did You Know I Also Collect One Piece Cards?

I started collecting Pokémon cards when I was a kid, like many others who grew up in the late '90s and early 2000s. Back then, it was all about trading with friends at recess because not many kids knew how to actually play the card game.

Every time you opened one of those packs and your heart started pounding, you were hoping to snag a shiny holographic Charizard, but instead, you got a rare non-holo Pinsir. Don’t get me wrong, Pinsir is a totally cool card—but let’s be honest, it’s no holo Charizard. Over the years, my collection grew until my binder, filled with valuable first editions—potentially some shadowless in there—and all kinds of awesome cards, was lost in a move... but I have a much darker theory that goes all the way up to the Pentagon, but that's a story for another day.

The point is, I lost my collection, so I stopped collecting and lost out on some really neat cards. Now as an adult however, getting the booster packs that were available back in my day is just financially irresponsible, and that’s not what we’re about here at *That PNW Dad* (though I’m starting to wish we were about just a little about that life).

When I first started collecting Pokeman cards, I did it because I was a kid and thought it was cool and fun to. Today, it’s still all that, plus I have money to responsibly spend on Pokémon cards and go after some cool and valuable chase cards! I started looking at my it at an investing opportunity, but know that i think about it a bit more, its more like gambling since you dont know what you are getting in those booster packs.

A chase card for those of you who dont know is the card everyone is after and usually but not always the most expensive in the set. Some pokeman .....i mean pokemon...man i am getting old....sigh, anyways. Some cards are actually work a good chunk of money so many people look at their cards as an investment....and some collectors really do have an investment worth in the hundred thousands of dollars! how insane is that? Not me though.

I feel like a good portion of you know what im talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff. Next time i open some cards ill do an opening on instagram, which if your arent following me go do it! @thatpnwdad.

As some of you might know im a big anime nerd, One Piece specifically and have started collecting One Piece Cards. These boosters are so hard to find, at least where i live. If you have a spot that sells them drop it in the comments. The other day i managed to snag me some boosters and spent about $20 on them and i ended up making a 20 dollar profit because i pulled one of the rarer cards worth around 40-45 it was awesome.

I think as responsible adult i can indulge in things that make me happy and pokemon and one piece cards do bring me some degree of happiness and depending on the pull some may bring me $$ as well which is always a plus on that degree of happiness. I know many adults will say to get. a real hobby or to stop playing kids games to that I respond with beeeeeeeep: your message has been recorded and deleted. But jokes aside people are free to enjoy what brings them joy regardless of what that is ( unless its illegal of course).

Do you have any collections? If so Id love to hear about them in the comments.
